Pontoon Boat Accessory Choices

Pontoon boat accessories can be as numerous as todays automobile accessories.

You can have a battery (or solar) powered radio/CD player.

You can have compass to aid your navigation.

Do you want a tachometer, speedometer, or an AMP gauge?

Fishermen might want fishing rod holders, depth finders, electric trolling motors, or ice chests.

Do you need any of that? Maybe.

Do you want pads for your deck chairs?

Do you want a bar with stools?

Will you want a mooring cover to protect your pontoon boat from rain and keep it clean when you're not using the boat?

Perhaps you'll want a sun deck, padded or not, mounted above the motor. Not only does it work well for sitting on and relaxing, but it somewhat stifles the motor noise by becoming a buffer between the motor and your ears.

Do you want electical appliances? Then you'll want a cigarette lighter or DC outlet and an inverter.

Do you plan to swim from the pontoon boat? Then you'll want a ladder made for you particular model of boat. Do you want one that remains permanentaly attached and you fold it up when you're in transit, or do you want a model of ladder that you keep inside the railings and then hook or latch over the side when the boat is standing still and you're ready to swim?

Other things that might be considered accessories (and may or may not be) are gas tanks and boat tops. Gas cans are briefly discussed on the section of this website pertaining to the boat motor. Boat tops are covered in their own section.
