Pontoon Boat Furniture Options

Your pontoon boat can be as luxuriously or sparsely furnished as you desire.

When the industry was new, pontoon boats were spartan, having mainly unpadded deck chairs. Todays seats and benchs range from the simple to the comfortable and useful.

One of the local pontoon boat rental businesses rents 24 foot long boats in two configurations. The "basic" package has plastic patio furniture (chairs and a a couple tables). The "luxury" package has permanent padded bench seats. Renters are allowed to fish from the "basic" package boat, but not the "luxury" package boat.

That difference in furnishing and policies provides you with a good case study for what you may want to consider for furnishing your pontoon boat.

Do you plan on being able to fish from any side of the boat at any time, or do you only plan to fish from one or two specific spots on the craft?

Are you concerned about the furnishing smelling fishy or getting more wear and tear on the furnishings from tackleboxes?

Do you want a comfortable bench seat that doubles as a cooler or a live-well for your freshly caught fish?

Do you want to take the plastic patio furnishings off the boat before you store it for the winter? (Assuming your winters aren't mild.)

Do you want a table or bar to prepare meals, play cards, or clean fish?

It's quite possible that you buy a pontoon boat with one particular configuration of furnishings, and you remove or add furnishings to your specifications - customizing your boat for your needs.

However, keeping these things in mind when you're buying should allow you the flexibility to not have to make drastic changes to the furnishings of a newly purchased water craft.
